Overwhelmed- Need to do Clean Windows 10 install ?

    Hello,
I am running windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.2546, has Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0. Been having issues with Acronis and have not been able to get them cured (can't even uninstall it). Wanted to change to a different backup, maybe Macrium. Having issue with windows defender. Also computer has lots of original bloatware. Believe that a clean install would be the best option but it has been so long that I don't recall all that must be done or saved. Lots of excess junk lying about. I currently have my data on a seperate removeable usb drive. Want to enable core isolation but it is blocked by acronis and a WD driver.
    Greatly anxious.
    thanks

What I have done in the past is, if you have room, create an empty space on your existing drive for a new Windows partition (64 GB minimum - shrink your existing partition to make the room). Do a clean install to the new partition and dual boot for a while. Once you are sure you have everything you need in the new Windows installation, then using a program like Minitool Partition Wizard Free, delete the old Windows partition and add the free space to the new Windows partition.

Acronis is hard to remove, but not impossible. It has a removal tool (Cleanup Utility)...

That said... when I switched from Acronis to Macrium... I just clean installed Windows.

The two things I save that a lot of people forget... is my Bookmarks, and on a prebuilt PC... the drivers.

Windows 10 should have generic drivers for everything, but just in case... you should export your drivers.

There is nothing like a Clean Install
    - Backup and Restore Device Drivers in Windows 10
    - Backup your data
    - Backup your Firefox profile Download Firefox Backup Tool

Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.

If you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT
Detach any other drives (SATA or Power cable) from the MB.

During POST, press F9(?) to launch the boot menu. You will see two options for the USB drive. USB UEFI (Name) and USB (Name). Select USB UEFI (Name) if you want to install as UEFI-GPT or select USB (name) if you want to install as Legacy-MBR.
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.
If you don't want to use MS account, don't enable updates or connect to the internet during installation.

Will probably begin a plan according to the advice given. I may try Windows Reset first with save personal data option. Any thoughts on it's efficacy??????
    Thanks

A reset uses same windows that may be corrupted.
I suggest you do a Repair install . You download a fresh Win 10 installation iso, mount it under windows and run Setup.exe.

Hello and thank you for the information. You describe a plan but I do not understand it. Could you please describe the process or point me to further step by step information. Sorry......
I am now remembering that setting up my server was a fair time back and I don't recall the hoops and hurdles I performed to connect it successfully... finally. Oh well, I do believe the clean install or possibly the repair procedure is the way I must go to do it right!

I discovered a while ago Acronis software is poorly engineered and supported. Their uninstaller didn't remove all remnants, in particular a disk filter remained installed requiring me to fiddle with the registry. This is not recommended unless you know what you are doing. What aspects of the Acronis software can't you remove? I certainly recommend Macrium Reflect.

I gave you the link for the Repair install.
All the instructions are provided, even a video.
