Windows 10 install from pendrive issues

UEFI motherboard with everything set to Legacy.

Windows 8.1 actually installed in a 1TB partition and I have 1TB free (no partition created or fomatted), MBR.

Media creation Tool -> boot -> Cannot install because it want GPT (I launched and created the pendrive from Windows 8 legacy)

Rufus -> set to MBR/Legacy -> BIOS doesn't start the pendrive to install

Manually create 2 partition, 1 FAT32 and 1 NTFS, follow the instruction to copy the IMG -> BIOS doesn't start the pendrive to install

Please help (or I should create a DVD?)

The simplest and most reliable way to create an appropriate bootable Win 10 install disk is to use the MS media creation tool. This creates the install disk directly.

After that, the question is whether you know how to get your particular make/model of PC to boot from any bootable flah drive. Have you ever done that?

PC make and model unspecified, so cannot comment further.

Tutorials from the huge searchable Tutorial section:

And please clarify- what are you trying to do? I'm guessing you're trying to dual boot Win 8 and 10?

I've not the computer now to look the motherboard model, I will report that.

I used the Media Creation Tool, launched it inside my actual Windows 8, then reboot, it start correctly but after it ask to use a GPT hard-drive (mine is MBR).

I don't want to convert the disk to GPT.

The motherboard has any set to Legacy mode and Windows 8.1 is in legacy mode (not UEFI).

I want to have a dual boot Win8 and Win10, after a while I will delete Win8 at all.

I'm actually burining a DVD+R with the ISO of Win10 to test also this.

    1. Boot into windows 8
    2. Create a partition from the unallocated space
    3. Apply the win10 image from your usb\sources\install.wim onto the new partition
    4. Create a boot menu entry

You can use JFX winntsetup to do 3 and 4.WinNTSetup_v524.zip

The problem is that you are booting the USB flash drive in UEFI mode. You need to boot it in Legacy/CSM mode. There should be a Function Key like F12 that you press when you first turn on the computer with the flash drive inserted into a USB port. That will get you into the boot override menu. There you should have two choices for the USB flash drive. One will be marked UEFI, and the other won't. You want the one that is not marked as UEFI.

To set up dual booting, I usually use @SIW2's method posted above, except I use DISM to apply the image and use BCDBOOT command to set up the boot menu entry.
