I totally share your observation in matters constant storage device I/O. I often thought about what is actually going on as it never ends. Maybe another collusion to wear out your mass storage device so you have to buy another one...
I wish there will be some kind of uninstall app that allows you to [selectively] uninstall all the hot air and uncalled, unasked and unwanted stuff in Windows. I tried the bulk crap uninstaller (BCU) and while it can help in a few matters
I haven't found yet the way of having it isolate all the Windows specific unneeded "ballast".
I will need to try that stripping down you did, that sounds very interesting I'm running twice as many processes. Can you provide some "how to's" and details? Nothing surprises me anymore with this company that "provides" the Windows operating system and neither would I be surprised when the day comes for some major antitrust case.
For your amusement, on how bizarre it can get, I kept a copy of the EULA from office 2003. Yes 19 years ago. The reason being, back then I coincidentally while doing a global word search in an unrelated matter I stumbled across this bizarre notation in the disclaimer of warranty section. Everybody I mentioned this to has no clue or understanding what it means. (Excerpt):
END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR MICROSOFT SOFTWARE (Office 2003)....
17. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES.... (Excerpted)

Before 2025 or on 2025, I might going to buy my new PC preinstalled Windows 11 or Windows 12 with supported hardware or on 2025, I am going to switch to Linux Lite and I am going to continue use my old PC.
