Best Driver identifier tool and question about winpe

    Stay Safe -- Take Care
I wish immediate safety & well being of all members there families and community in large.

I want to know whether WinPE also needs a separate license or its free.
I came across windows 10 pro Workstation (pro Plus ) Edition which has far more features than plain Pro version.
Unfortunately I cant afford the same . So I am planning to install it for 3 days without activating and create full featured winPE disk. Does this violates licenseing laws. Using Activators does not seems to be flawless as several unknown malwares are added .
I also want to know from expert members which is the technically best driver updater software.
I am finding it very difficult to install drivers for older laptops like Dell vostro 5458 etc. Drivers available on dell website are too old (2015) and they do not support latest OS.
I tried many tools but results of all tools are varying. .
Can someone pls. help. Thank you.

If I recall correctly, (some of) the expert members here do not recommend using such software.

I've had success with a couple of Dell Latitude Notebooks using Win8/8.1 drivers but they were older machines, E6410, when installing Win10. I did have an issue with one and the Wireless adapter, loaded but couldn't get Internet access, works fine with a USB dongle.

You have more than 3 days as per this post: After the 30 days of no activation, what'll happen???

Hi @chipsang and welcome to 10F,

I am far from an expert but some of the fellas here, including myself, recommend the built-in Windows Update. In general all 3rd party driver update programs are risky. The manufactures also provide driver update tools for their products - HP, Intel, AMD, Dell, etc., which are safe.
So, you can make your choice accordingly and keep in mind that this applies for Windows 10 /not for Windows 7, as in your specs/.

    Hi Matthew
Thank you so much for comprehensive explanation which has resolved all my queries successfully.
As you have suggested I will abandon all driver finder tools anyway they show erratic results.I used one of the tool for my old dell vostro 5458 laptop and suddenly USB 3.0 port stopped working. In device manager it was showing Intel USb3.0 extensible hub.(OS was windows 7).Finally when I installed windows 10 which took correct drivers automatically port started operating again.

You can always check for new drivers at the manufacturers website.

    Hi AddRam
Yes you are right , unfortunately problem comes up for old hardware. For example for my Dell Vostro 5458 laptop , dell support page has drivers are available but they are very old (2015). After installing official drivers suddenly USB 3.0 port stopped detecting. Besides one more unknown device started showing up. This forced me for driver updater solution.

This is one of those cases where what you have is good enough

And if a PC doesn`t support W10, there`s nothing you can do about that, other than installing W7 or God forbid W8

Let us know if you find a reliable driver update software.

I have no idea whether the one below is reliable although it says "the best".

Download Driver Booster - the best free driver updater for Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista & XP.
