Where to download an old version of windows 10?

    Greetings.

The laptop that I use for my field work is somewhat old, but functional, but at the beginning of January I formatted it and installed the new version of windows 10, 20H2. The problem is that since then it has given me many problems, performance and stability.

I want to go back to the version I had before, I don't know what it was exactly, but it was the one before 20H1. In fact, when I had that version, windows update told me that the machine was not ready for the update. I regret not having listened to him.

So I'm looking for a way to go back to the version I am telling you about. I am afraid to download an image of those that swarm on YouTube or other places, I am worried that they will have some surprises.

So I turn to the experts, so they can recommend a safe method to get it, if possible.

My laptop comes with a factory license, for windows 10 home single language 64 bits, Spanish from Mexico.

Note that you can only go back a build without clean installing
    - if you're within the period allowed (10 days by default, extendable to 60- see tutorial) since upgrading
    - in some cases by uninstalling the minor upgrade - typically May/April's is a major upgrade, whilst September/October's has become implemented by an enablement package which is potentially uninstallable.

Notice that the tool given above is mentioned in the tutorial:
    Download Windows 10 ISO File

The tutorial section is a great resource with practical illustrated guides- do have a look.

Also searching tenforums itself- using it as a resource- can answer many questions.

I would like to add one last source that is not based on a simple click and download:

    UUP dump

If you need a specific build number, you can enter it in the search field:
Where to download an old version of windows 10?-screenshot-2021-02-27-092319.png

Or click on one of the builds offered for selection:
Where to download an old version of windows 10?-screenshot-2021-02-27-092350.png

If you have then clicked on the respective build with the architecture (x86 / amd64 / arm64) you need you will get to the next page where you can select the language:
Where to download an old version of windows 10?-screenshot-2021-02-27-092924.png

Select the language and click on next.

In the next window you can choose which editions the ISO should contain:
Where to download an old version of windows 10?-screenshot-2021-02-27-092924.png

When done click on next again.

In the last selection window you can see on the right-hand side which build number the ISO to be created has.
    Which language the ISO contains.
And which editions it contains and which download size.
Where to download an old version of windows 10?-screenshot-2021-02-27-093446.png

On the left side the creation of an ISO is preselected and optionally you can select the integration of NetFramework 3.5.

But only as it says there when you create the ISO on a Windows computer.

Another option available is to create an install.esd instead of install.wim, which makes the main installation file smaller.

An Install.esd is also downloaded when an ISO is created with the Media Creation Tool.

When you have checked everything and/or changed an option, click on "Create download package".

Then download a small zip package that contains various scripts.
Where to download an old version of windows 10?-screenshot-2021-02-27-094732.png

Unzip the downloaded package and you will see the following scripts:
Where to download an old version of windows 10?-screenshot-2021-02-27-095018.png

It contains scripts for macOS, Linux and of course Windows.

To create an ISO on Windows, run the "uup_download_windows.cmd" script as an administrator.

The files required to create an ISO are then downloaded from Microsoft's servers, and the ISO will creat.

The ISO is finally in the same folder as the script.

    Hello @Hijin25,

The two sites that I always go to for older ISO's are . . .

    > TechBench by WZT - Includes OLDER Windows 10 ISO's - RECOMMENDED
    > UUP dump - Download UUP Files from Windows Update Servers with Ease.

    I hope this helps.

That's version 1909. It's in support until May***. After that it will not receive updates so will start to become more vulnerable to malware penetration & exploitation.

I agree with dalchina above. Use the sources identified in the relevant tutorial.
Download Windows 10 ISO File - TenForumsTutorials

More generally, look around the Tutorial index - there's a link at the top of every TenForums page.

Installing an older build of Windows and keeping it if you need it for compatibility reasons is feasible, with the provisos @Try3 states.

If MS deems your configuration not to be compatible with a later build, then you won't be offered it, as I think you know.

However, it is possible that at some point you would suddenly find you are offered a later build- and that may be forced on you when running an unsuported build, unless you take due precaution.

Therefore you will need to take control of Windows update to keep that build, using 1 of the various free utilities often mentioned here which disable Windows Update but without disabling Defender updates or the Store.

For example, see the one in Option 7:
Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10

If these images are original ISO?

I ask why they weigh too much. I remember having downloaded the 1909 version in its day and it fit perfectly on a normal DVD, the image that is downloaded from TechBench far exceeds the capacity of one.
