    MediaCreationTool20H2

The other day I created a Windows.iso file with the newly downloaded MediaCreationTool20H2.
The file is 4.784.256 KB is size; 18MB too large to fit on a DVD+R of 4.7 GB
Can I do something about this so I have a bootable disk?
My OS is Windows10 Home Edition 20H2 64-bit
ps: I could create an image of the same file on an USB stick without any problem.

    Hello.

I think it's better to use an usb stick. Otherwise, you will need a DL DVD.

    thanks.
I didn't know about DL DVDV.
looked it up: DL stands for Dual Layer and has a capacity of 8.5 GB
    much appreciated

    Hi there

    @aliskander

Just get a USB device and make it bootable from the downloaded iso image - I haven't used the media creation tool for a while as I think it's easier (and possibly more up to date) to create the iso's from UUPDUMP.

Once you've got an iso make it bootable using RUFUS (or in Linux via the DD command).

The MCT might be able to create a bootable USB image directly -- as I said I haven't used the MCT for a long time now.

    Cheers

The 'read' speed of a DVD-DL is very slow, even using a 24x optical drive. Use a USB stick... it's much, much quicker to install Windows... and won't get scratched.

As previously mentioned, in order to use a DVD, you would need a Dual Layer DVD. This may, or may not be useful . . .

I personally think it is better to use a Bootable USB.

If you would like Instructions or Videos on how to do this then please let us know.

    I hope this helps!
