    1909 Bootable - 2004 Not Bootable (USB)

Hey all, so I've been having some issues with my pc, it has been acting very strange, taking longer to load, at one point it said no bootable device detected and such in which I did a system restore and that sort of helped, sometimes I could load into my desktop, sometimes I couldn't, it was an array of issues. So I'm like okay, its time for a format, the last format I did was almost a year ago so it seemed just about right.

I downloaded the windows tool and made my usb a bootable usb device with the latest windows version....but it wouldn't load.

I'd get the notification to boot from usb, but the windows logo would appear for a second and then I'd get stuck on a blinking underscore, so I did some troubleshooting, did some research and discovered that my BIOS boot settings where incompatible, in which case i downloaded rufus and switched to MBR, but it still wasn't working, I tried multiple different solutions but it just wouldn't boot...then I had enough and tried downloading windows version 1909 and put that on the usb instead...and it worked.

I'm incredibly lost at this stage, is version 2004 just incompatible with my device? Granted it is a much older system.

Could someone please enlighten me. I did see there is a option to use the windows 7 tool to install version 2004 but I haven't tried that yet, is it even worth it at this point or does 2004 have some issues with it?

This has been a very stressful situation , someone hold me.

Thank you - I'm currently on version 1909

Why not just try upgrading the 1909 to 2004?

Well my computer was all sorts of stuffy so the best option for me was to do a completely clean install, is it possible to upgrade to 2004 via a COMPLETELY clean install?

Yes, you can clean install version 2004. Did you let Microsoft's Media Creation Tool create the USB flash drive, or have you always used Rufus?

Initially I did it all through the Media Creation Tool but since I wasn't getting any progress I resorted to Rufus. I'm honestly quite sceptical updating to 2004, I did some research and read others having similar issues.

Well, I would say if you really want 2004, it appears as if you have a clean install of 1909 now, so I would just upgrade it to 2004. Or you can use the uupdump website to download build 19042.572 and go straight to version 20H2, skipping version 2004:
Select language for Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 (19042.572) amd64 - UUP dump

I'm on version 20H2 now and don't have any problems with it.

How would I go about that mate, I would definitely like to try it, it might have fixes for me issue. By the way, the version 1909 I downloaded is from itechtics.

Keeping in mind I could not boot for version 2004 on my usb and only 1909 worked.

New Issue: Currently as I'm using it my computer will freeze for half a second and randomly just reset. Sigh, nothing is going well. Your suggestion of the newer version does sound exiting to try though.

I am assuming the computer you are having problems with is not the computer in your profile?

You click on the link in my post:
Select language for Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 (19042.572) amd64 - UUP dump

In the language drop down box, select the language you want. Click the next bar under that. On the next screen check the boxes for the edition(s) you want. Usually just Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro is all you need, assuming you are not using the N version of Windows 10. Click the next bar under that. On the next screen just leave everything as is and click the bar for create download package. You will get a .zip file downloaded to your computer.

Extract all the files in the zip file to a folder. After it is extracted you will see a file "uup_download_windows.cmd" I always right click on it and "Run as administrator". I don't really know if administrator is required or not. Then you will get a command prompt window that will open a whole bunch of magic will happen there and it could take quite a while to build the ISO file on an older computer. Just be patient. Try not to let the computer go to sleep during the process, but it has always recovered from sleep on mine.

After that is all done, you will end up with an ISO file with a really long name. You can just upgrade from the ISO file by mounting it and running setup.exe. Or you can create a flash drive with it using Rufus.

Nono its the same computer in my profile. I will try your method after I post the test results, I hope it will allow me to boot via that newer update though "fingers crossed". And thank you for your help so far.
