I have Win 10 Pro on an M.2 drive in my PC and want to do a fresh re-install with the new version (2004). Thing is, I have an internal HDD. Do I need to open the PC up and disconnect this before-hand, or is WIn smart enough nowadays to only install on the ssd it resides on currently?
I've read stories of Win misplacing files onto other drives, but opening this PC is a nerve-wracking experience for me, so if I can avoid that...

That is the best practice... however, you do not have to but be careful when selecting the drive to install to...

I have never disconnected any internal drives before doing a clean install.

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it. Thank goodness I don't have to open her up, I fear her exploding or something, it's stupid.

I should have once when Win10 picked up the BIOS setting of AHCI/RAID and set up as RAID. It worked good until I decided to remove the second drive, broke the RAID setup and wouldn't boot.
