How do I disconnect my laptop's internal Bluetooth transmitter?

I want to connect an external Bluetooth transmitter to my laptop (which has an internal Bluetooth transmitter). I'll want to disconnect the internal transmitter so I can use only the external Bluetooth transmitter. I don't want to physically remove the internal transmitter - just stop it from being utilized. How do I do this? Thank you......

Here is what my Device Manager shows for Bluetooth. I have no idea what to disable. Also, I wouldn't want to disable any line item that would be used for the external Bluetooth transmitter (which I don't yet have).

The internal transmitter is not reliable and I want a transmitter that's more powerful. Can you identify the line items in my Device Manager that need to be disabled?

you might not need to disable anything might have a choice which one to use. i would just wait till you get the bt adapter and see if you need to disable the internal one. when the new bt dongle gets plugged in go to device manager and see if it is recognized then disable the ones that are not the new one.

I'd hate to order the new transmitter and then find that I don't know how to disable the internal one. I like to plan ahead.

well then you can disable all of those in device manager now if your not going to use bluetooth until new one comes in.you can always enable it when you need it.

Just be aware that the Bluetooth on Notebooks is part of Wi-Fi, if using the keyboard choice of enabling or disabling will kill both. Device Manager is more selective.

Having an issue with an older Notebook [just installed Win8.1 Pro Saturday] I went shopping and got a couple of these 802.11ac plus Bluetooth 4 dongles, work quite well:
