    laptop upgrade password problem

just installed all recent upgrades into my laptop win 10 x 64. (Home). Now I cannot open it because it insists on me setting a not wanted password. How to remove this obstacle? I am using my tablet to access online.

Is this a local user account? If so I doubt if it's got anything to do with the latest updates. I have a blank password for my local account and all the latest updates but I'm not being asked to set a password.

It's possible that this account has been set for its password to expire. If so, give up and set a password so you can get in. Then see this tutorial to remove the password expiry. After that you can set it back to a blank password again and it shouldn't expire.

the laptop has never ever had a password. I opened laptop to check things as daughter has command of the pc. It had an upgrade to install and some periferals. So I installed windows etc and rebooted. Thats when the'put your password' window appeared. It has NEVER been there before. I dont have one, I dont want one. Its my laptop, single account and never use user account on it. Now I cant get into it. I will look at bree's link now.

edit: the examples assume there was already a password, there is not

negative. Nobody did, only I use it. Its windows home by the way, not pro or any other.

When I opened the laptop it opened as normal, direct to desktop. After upgrades, now it wants password!! There never WAS a password

Even a blank password can be set to expire, forcing you to change the password at the next sign in.

I have had this laptop for a goodly 3 years, it never had one and has never asked me to replace one. Until today.
