Clean install of windows and discs

    Hello,
I want to clean install windows and remove all my data like apps and possible viruses. I have disc C: (where my system is installed and that's SSD disc) disc DHDD drive with all apps and software) My question is when I do a clean install and it makes me decide which partition to remove should I remove all of them and keep "unlocated space partition"when it creates one automatically and click next? I have a system to install from the CD drive. I just want a fresh system and remove all my personal data and apps but also keep 2 discs after a clean install but with no date on them. Disc C and D which C is my SSD with system and D HDD for apps and software. Will it clean my disc also and automatically assign disc C as SSD with system and disc D for apps to install?

If you can help me thank you so much!

Hi, you can delete each and every partition comprising Windows and installed programs. You can leave any you have created purely for data files.

Before you do this, make sure you create a full disk image, so that you can retrieve any data you need from that after installing Windows.

Also make sure you know all the license keys for all your installed programs.

Search this list of tutorials for
    clean install
    Windows 10 Tutorial Index
    and you will find

At steps 11/12/13 you make the decision to clean install and which partitions to delete.

Or, you could simply wipe your existing disks completely, then clean install, which might be wiser if you are concerned about viruses e.g. using an appropriate live boot disk to boot your system.
Will it clean my disc also
as explained that's your manual choice
and automatically assign disc C as SSD with system
the disk on which Windows is installed is your choice as per the tutorial
and disc D for apps to install?
No, that's something you would configure after the installation - tutorial available.

I assume you're referring to apps from the Store, rather than downloaded and installed .exe files for traditional 'desktop' programs.

I want to remove all my data so after clean install I have only new system and empty discs C and D because I don't want to keep any of my data. But if i delete all partitions will it automatically assign the system to disc C SSD and create disc D for apps ?

When performing a clean install all partitions are deleted.
    Windows then creates default partitions.

The unallocated space can then be used to create multiple partitions.

The number of partitions are limited to 4 with BIOS/MBR whereas they are 128 partitions available with UEFI/GPT.

To clean all malware and address any partition problems > perform a clean install

Here are all my partitions right now. So if i delete all partitions and click next it will automatically create Disc C SSD with system and leave disc D for apps like i have now but just everything will be empty?

So after a clean install of the system and removing all partitions i will have only disc C SSD with system so i will have to create manually disc D for apps and downloaded games photos and videos? Is that correct?

Has it been said yet ?

Disconnect the power cable from the hard drive BEFORE you install windows on the SSD. There is no reason to remove it.

You can hook it back up and do whatever you want to it, AFTER you have installed windows on the SSD.

Also, I WOULD NOT install any programs on the hard drive, games YES, but install all your other programs on the SSD.

    There are two disk drives.

C: is located on disk 0.
D: is located on disk 1.

Clean install is done on one disk.
So there are no changes made to D:

Any malware on C: will be cleaned.
Any malware on D: will remain.

When performing a clean install it is best to have only one disk drive connected to the computer.
So either detach the cable or remove the disk drive.

When Windows is clean installed it will be C:

So removing all partitions will help me clean only my disc C ? Is there any way to clean both disc C and D at the same time? Also does formatting option for disc D would help me remove everything from there including viruses or the best way is just to remove it?

If you format D you will lose all your data. why do you think you have a virus ?

Just use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes free and run scans.

Malware protection. Better than Antivirus | Malwarebytes

But yes, you can delete both drives to unallocated space. But the hard drive SHOULD NOT be hooked up when you install windows on the SSD.
