    Hi zbook,
Attached is DM log, V2 log safe mode, V2, and Disk Management.
Please advise how to get Windows 10 1703 for In-place Upgrade as I have only a recovery usb.
I have tried Recover this PC .which made no difference.
For the moment this is all I can give you.
If you can suggest a solution to my problem it would be appreciated.
    Thank you for all help.

Please reply in kind with the numbers so that it easy to see which steps were or were not completed.

    Was this chosen:

    Code:
A reset reinstalls Windows and apps that came installed on your Surface.
All of your personal files will be deleted, and your settings will be reset. All apps that you installed will be removed. For info on backing up your files, see Back up your files.
After a reset, you’ll be able to set up your Surface as if it were brand new.
So there are no important files on the computer?

    Or was this chosen:

    Code:
Your Surface isn't working well, and it's been a while since you installed anything new: Reset your Surface

Before you reset your device and reinstall Windows, you can choose to keep your files or remove them. If you can't sign in to Windows, try retrieving your password before performing a reset. To learn more, see When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account.
So there are important files on the computer?

If there are important files on the computer then please complete the steps in post #12: panther logs, etc.

The link that was posted opened:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...erecoveryimage

There were hyperlinks on the web page:

To learn more, see Restore or reset Surface or Refresh or reset Surface RT or Surface 2.
    https://support.microsoft.com/help/4023533
    https://support.microsoft.com/help/4037673

    Which was selected?

Please confirm that you have important files on the computer that you do not want to lose.

    Or

Indicate if you do not have important files on the computer.

When available please post share links for the panther log files found using Everything search.

    Hi zbook,
I did not select any of the links.
I went to step 1 Select your Surface device and chose Surface Pro 4 - 512GB i5 8GB and pressed Continue to created USB recovery drive.

I then booted from USB drive and did a recovery.

    1) When available please post share links for the Panther logs.

    2) This is clean boot:
Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts

    3) When the prior in place upgrade was attempted did you use or not use clean boot?
(this was asked earlier and was not answered)

    4) Are there important files on the computer that had not been saved?
(this was asked earlier and was not answered)
