How to Create Bootable USB

Hi,
Just downloaded windows 10 Installation Media from Download Windows 10 . There are two options there Update and Download tool now. I first tried Update and was told that a newer version was available. This was downloaded successfully.
That said, the reason I went on there in the first place was to create a USB image of windows 10 that I could use to boot from if ever required. When I set about to do this by using the second option ‘Download tool now’ it just downloads the same file again. When I right click and run as administrator I get the message ‘Thanks for upgrading to the latest version of windows 10’, and I can’t seem to get beyond this.
As I said, I want to create a bootable USB containing windows 10 as well as my files.

Thanks for your reply, but this what I have been using.
After saving to desktop and running it, it just tells me that 'This was downloaded successfully'.

After going to the Download Windows 10 page and downloading the tool you should have downloaded a file called MediaCreationTool1809.exe. Your next step, as described in Option One, step 2 of the tutorial should be to run this exe.

2. Save the MediaCreationTool1809.exe file (version 10.0.17763.1) to your desktop, and run it.

Do you then see the screenshot in step 4? If so, do you select 'Create installation media....'? This is how I've always done it, never had any problems.

4. Select (dot) Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)

I don't get to the option to use USB.

Have attached screen shots which shows the key I use, image 1 (Download tool now), as previously stated I then double click on the desktop icon (also tried right click run as administrator) which takes me to image 2.

Are you sure you clicked on the "Download tool now" button? It should download the MediaCreationTool1809.exe file to run.

Its working now? Not sure what was going on as I was using the correct button.

Is it possible to also save files using this option as in an image backup?

You could still save files to the USB if you like, but it won't be an image backup.

Personally, I like to use Macrium Reflect for image backups.
