Media Tool Unable to Download to USB due to disk space and other error

I cant seem to download a bootable disk to my usb if my life depended on it....I'm borrowing my neighbors pc and need to return it but I NEED to fix my pc! I have deleted everything possible to gain space and even moved some of her files over to a usb I have that's empty....but her pc isn't updated and it wont update either....it says: (I took a screenshot and attached it)

any help would be fantastic, as my hands are tied, and I have tried nearly everything. Its all ive been trying to do for the last 2, going on 3 days...my head hurts...

    thanks!

If you are trying to create the install media, and the update is barging in, pause updates (under advanced), reboot, and that should give you a chance.

Hmmm, first I've heard that the MCT won't run if an update is in progress. But it doesn't surprise me. much of the functions the MCT uses are part of the windows update system. BTW, the MCT will make media for 1809 currently, not the 1803 that this other machine is trying to update to.

The easiest way round this is simply to not use the MCT. Instead, use Edge to open the Windows 10 download page. Press F12 to get the Developers Tools and on the Emulation tab change the User Agent String to 'Apple Safari (iPad)'. The page will change to one where you can download an ISO file directly.

The ISO file can be used to make a bootable usb with Rufus, or (my preferred way) by using Diskpart to wipe the usb clean, create a partition, format it to Fat32 and mark the partition active. Then just double-click on the ISO to mount it as a virtual DVD and copy all the files from it to the usb.
