Choose an operating system between Windows 10 and Windows 10?

Whenever I boot up it asks me to choose between Windows 10 on volume 1 or Windows 10.

Perhaps my mSATA drive has some Windows OS files on it?

I followed the instructions in this video which basically allows you to pick a default OS and disable the prompt asking you to choose an OS: how to remove dual boot option in windows 10 - YouTube

Is setting a default OS and disabling the prompt on boot up good enough like in the video or should I take further steps to resolve this issue like reformatting/reinstalling.

Welcome to the forums. The problem is you don't boot from drive c it's boots from the second drive so in order to boot you need both disk. Do you want to set it to boot all from one disk?

Thanks. Wouldn't it be better to boot from just one disk on drive C? Would I have to reformat/reinstall to make that possible? Is there any advantage in using both disks to boot?

Its normally caused by having more than one disk when you install windows. Its possible to shrink drive c then copy the boot parition on to drive c or just disconnect second drive boot the install dvd and try repair

From a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin) the command would be:

    bcdboot C:\Windows /s C: /f ALL

Then set the bios to boot from drive 0 first in the boot priority, then you can delete the system reserved partition on Drive 1 once C: drive on Drive 0 is shown as both the system and boot partition in disk management.

Thanks for your solution. I was just curious, would it be a bad idea to remove the disk 1 mSATA drive and then reformat/reinstall on the disk 0 hard drive?

In your case it doesn't really matter. It looks like the mSATA drive does not have any data on it yet. Once you see in disk management that the word "system" inside the parenthesis has moved to disk 0 and is no longer inside the parenthesis on disk 1, you can just delete both partitions on disk 1 and reformat a new partition using the entire drive.

Just curious, what is the intended purpose of the small mSATA drive? I would look at upgrading it to 128 GB or larger and installing Windows to it, instead of the slower HDD. If this is in the laptop in your specs, you are crippling it by running Windows off a spinner HDD.

I'm sorry to say but I don't know how to set the bios to boot from drive 0 first in the boot priority.

Does my BIOS look normal after I ran bcdboot C:\Windows /s C: /f ALL

I'm gonna try to change the boot order so the Hard Drive is first.

Thanks again for your help. I just bought a Samsung 1TB 860 EVO SSD to replace the slow spinner. The mSATA is no longer needed for running Windows
