2-Core NVIDIA GTX295 (Driver:342.01) Suddenly Shows Only 1 Core Active

The lowest-end choices there are the GTX 1050 ti and the GTX 1650. The 1650 is a "Turing" card without the hardware raytracing. It's newer than the 1050 ti, and perhaps a bit more powerful, but the cheapest is $300CDN. Some of the third-party sellers are, as in the past, crazy.
The 10 series and the 16 series are both old enough that there'd be a fair chance at finding something on the used market that is sanely priced. I don't know about the 16 series, but be careful on eBay with the 1050 ti. There are many counterfeit cards listed. (Inferior cards with their BIOS hacked to report as a 1050 ti.)
