Cant disable lockscreen after resume from sleep anymore?

Hi,

I'm facing the same issue on Windows 10 home. I have:

Tried option 1 and set the sign in options to never. I also ran the powercfg command to add the setting to the power plans, it is set to No but I can't change it. Local group policy not available on Win 10 Home (Option 4) and registry setttings (Option 5) don't exist.

Any idea why when my computer resumes from sleep it goes to the lock screen?

Update: I found the post about disabling AllowLockScreen in the registry, and noticed that this setting kept getting re-enabled. SO I created the task as per instructions to disable it, and that sort of worked in that the lock screen itself no longer comes up, but it takes me straight to the sign in screen

That's ok. You can download and merge the .reg file in Option 5 to add and set it instead.

Thanks Shawn, have now tried that, confirmed it created the keys (set to 0). See update above about the AllowLockScreen entry as well (set to 0 by task). Lock screen is gone, but it comes back to the sign in screen now.

Also can confirm registry keys have changed the Sign-in options to display "Authentication is not required when this PC wakes from sleep"...... but it still is.

Oh this is weird. So if I just put the computer to sleep and wake it up with the power button, there is no lock screen / authentication screen - it looks like it is unlocked and ready to go. Wiggle the mouse and it goes back to the authentication screen.

Another observation. When I press the power button to wake the computer up, it keeps flashing as though it is still asleep, even though the display comes on (unlocked). Then when I move the mouse, the power button goes steady (on) and the screen goes back to the logon screen.

It sounds like you didn't set Windows to automatically sign-in to an account you want at startup. This will avoid the lock and sign-in screen at startup.

No, I did that. I'm using a local user and I unchecked "Users must enter a password to logon to this computer". The computer boots and auto logs on to the account - no password required. It's just waking from sleep that's the problem.

It's a HTPC, so that's why I need this to work.

Hmm, double check your Screen Saver settings to see if you may have On resume, display logon screen checked. If so, uncheck it and apply to see if that was the culprit.
