Windows positioning in the Windows OS is a real PITA for all experienced users. Shell folders can't restore their state/position since Vista, at the same time many other nice applications are also missing this "preserve window position"-feature.
Why should I use my mouse to reposition a shell folder to the same position where it was just a minute ago before I closed it? This is rediculuos.
At some point I found it took me too much time to make exactly the same actions mentioned in this thread and I decided to develop an utility which was later called TaskLayout. A few words about this utility: TaskLayout is an application launcher with windows adjustment functionality which allow you to launch and adjust numerous applications/windows with a single click/hotkey. This tool is extremely useful whenever you need to open favorite shell folders at their places.
I hope you'll try it and decide you own whether it can help you under this topic. Thanks!
