    interesting.... when i downloaded 8.1 a few months ago
    it was called Windows.iso and that's all...

    i tried to install xp on this 8.1 notebook
    but the install button was greyed out...

    isn't it true that the new firmware on the new computers
    will only accept 8.1 or newer because of the bios?

    No, on most you can turn off secure boot in the BIOS and install an older OS in legacy mode.

    could have had win7... oh well... got 10...

    how many people know this?

    i'll stick with 10240 as long as i can...

    How many people know? A good question? Here, probably lots. It's in the tutorials for 10, 8, and 7 forums.

    what i meant was...

    i imagine there's a lot of people who don't
    and they'll probably try and just give up
    and put 10 on it like i did...

    which goes along with the story...

    Yes, that will happen. The average Joe will likely not know what to do. Or why it happened. Then blame Microsoft. The info is out there if you know where to look.

    The big picture is that Microsoft is Microsoft they will do with windows 10 what ever they want to there is nobody to stop them.
