Mega annoying fault (all Windows not just W10)
Hi there
I seem to have a really annoying fault on ANY windows OS (doesn't happen on Linux).
Sometimes the HDD's seem to be "quiesced" and if say I use Windows explorer it takes (or seems to take) ages for the program to work (or any other application). I can hear HDD's starting up and see the busy light for a while.
Once the HDD's are running then everything is fine.
I've tried every conceivable setting in Power options but I can't seem to stop this whole process. I just want the HDD's to be running 100% of the time until I power off the machine.
Linux doesn't give me that problem so it's obviously some setting in Windows I've missed.
Note this happens on W7 / W8.1 and W10 so not a specific complaint with W10.
Sometimes I deliberately leave a machine for say 45 mins /1hr and go away to do something else - loads of people do - I'm sure they don't all have the HDD delays when they come back again to their machine.
The OS is on an SSD - but it's when I want to access the HDD's that I see the effect. It's only on a REAL machine with ASUS Mobo.
Laptop even with 3 or 4 large capacity external USB drives is fine.
Cheers
