    desktop view


    In W10 .... how do I switch from the start screen (with tiles) to a desktop with conventional icons?

    Hello wdc, :)

    It sounds like you may be in tablet mode. If so, turning it off will allow you to see the desktop.

    Brink: Thanks. I <believe> I have turned off tablet Mode But I still don't see how to switch from the Start tiles view to Desktop. ??

    In that case press the Windows+D keys to see if that takes you to your desktop.

    If it does, then you may have Start set to full screen.

    I googled for that answer myself and I was told to go to IE options/programs and check open with desktop. I am not at my laptop and not sure of the wording, but it gives you 2 options one to open on the tile screen or desktop. Worked for me.

    I use FF but it still worked.
