    Know what's coming

    Know what's coming.
I warned you already a couple years ago.
    Some ridiculed me.

You are being lulled into everything online with deceptive steps and methods like a drug dealer getting you hooked on drugs.
Soon you will have to pay the run your laptop around the operating system run any app and all this per usage or monthly.
But it will not stop there. You will be bombarded with pop-up ads as well.

And how many years ago was SaaS {Software as a Service] being talked about and by extension WaaS [Windows as a Service] and how many of the larger programs are offered as Subscriptions now?

365 its a thing ppl keep saying i am crazy but they are just blind. I was talking about this on another forum just the other week and was meet with hostility as they couldn't believe the logic.

outlook email has ads now and how do you get rid of them? that is right 365 sub.
Ai models are expensive to run don't be surprised when more and more features get locked behind 365 in the future. Atm its mainly enterprise and iot features like ms sandbox being an example. But its also stuff like office which wasn't as locked in years gone by.

it would be crumby but just imagine if they locked off certain parts of the OS eventually? like we already have it were you cannot customize windows unless its activated which is fair enough but they could flip that logic into a money machine very easily if they wanted to.

it could also be that in the future inflation sets in and computers become to expensive so areas like ms sandbox become more attractive to consumers.
Yes they do want to start prioritizing data in the cloud for the average consumer as its a big net of generation combine that with 365 sub model and its a billion dollar industry as subscription services is a billion dolalr industry, pay tv etc.

Like many areas in life we are heading towards the mantra of "You will own nothing and be happy about that"

Everything MS does is a slow game because they know if they ramp they heat p to 100 fast then it could see a diminished consumer base over night.

i am so sick to death of the sub model, i hobbyist in an industry that is drunk with sub models. We are talking like a few grand in subscriptions per application.

i am totally over that model because everything i need to function is locked behind expensive pay walls. The buy to own offerings are not as good there is some ok ones but mostly all the top stuff is locked in a subscription. The free stuff can be ok but its like anything all the top stuff knows its value and is the most expensive and in a sub model.

We live in a time where things should be easier not harder much of it is greed and inflation its a death spiral that we are all caught inside. One thing goes up the rest goes up and then after that greed is setting the road ahead in many cases.

An inexpensive $175 HP Notebook I got in Dec. came with Win11 Home and a 1-year subscription to Microsoft 365 subscription.

I hate food stores who price every item individually, and expect me to pay for each item regardless of cost EVERY TIME I go to store. Surely I should pay only once and then get it free for the rest of my life /s.

Windows has always been offered as a payed license you buy into the lifetime of that software. People are going to be unhappy to that when windows is potentially heading towards subscription. The potential is there and we are seeing more features locked behind it. Sandbox is what the op article is referring to which is cloud computing windows 11 cloud vm and needs a 365 subscription.

regardless 365 is getting inflated over many areas, You can counter argue that but you also don't owe anything to Microsoft as a customer, if you like getting fkd in th A then by all means. You are just another number in their wallet if that is the case.

To argue that then you might as well just burn your money. No one wants another bill to add to their list of bills. A monthly or yearly sub on windows no thanks Microsoft you billion dollar umbrella you just out to scrap up more money.

They already own Blizzard which is a money printer you only need one. 69 billion it cost them they would of backed that sale with investors even though they would have the money outright and then you want to turn around and then defend something that is screwing you over essentially?
No it's not happened but it could and it does look set to become an increasing area we already know Microsoft wants to pump subscription models its being talked about online that 2025 and beyond is going to be huge for subs. Pretty sure 2025 is coined as the year of the subscription.

It is called a progress, but people are afraid of a change. Sure, there are privacy implications, but it can not be stopped, especially since people do not care. Linux is used by 2% and most of it goes to "bad" IoT devices.

I am looking forward to that, no need to buy hardware, you will simply buy a subscription for TV.

I have hardly seen any ads in decades, they can be easily filtered out or disabled, it just takes some effort.
