    This check was clean as no bad memory regions were listed: (it would only display results that Windows predicts failure)

    Hello All,
    It seems if i leave my computer on for a while, in screensaver mode, say around 1.5 hours it goes all funny, it slows right down becomes unresponsive, this has happened a few times lately, i have run sfc /scannow, no integrity violations, i think they call it, i am at a loss, the cpu temp shows around 32 c, as i type this i can hear the fan running, last time it went odd, i must admit, i could not hear any fan noise
    Its a Dell optiplex 9020, i have upgraded the memory to 16 gb, and also installed a new 500 gb ssd drive
    I did go into troubleshooter but is said on screen i have nothing to check
    Any advice really welcome and much appreciated

    Assuming you did all the other jazz already of checks, tests, scans and verifications; have you looked into control panel> Power options?

    Looking in there, are you running on "balanced", "high performance" or any other setting.
    When you click on the "change plan settings" of let's say "balanced", there comes a different window and below the display and computer sleep setting there is a link "change advanced power settings".
    Click on that and you will see a whole list of individual settings. Check them one by one if any power& performance reduction is set to become active after certain time.

    Reason I suggest this, a client of mine once played around and had on their processor power management set extreme low percentage values which resulted in his system performing like an old IBM XT.... and of course eventually crashed.

    @Piccy
    It is good mannerism and professional conduct to let people not hang with no response and then later tell them that everything's working without explanation of what the cause or remediation was. Otherwise in the future you will end up experiencing less and less support and help.
