How to enable BOOT from USB on a Dell Inspiron 7720

Hi I have an older laptop that is very slow so I am trying to reinstall Windows 10 on it, using this tutorial

    Clean Install Windows 10

I have created the Bootable Disk today here

Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10

but can not yet get the Dell to boot from it.

    I found this video

How to Enable USB Boot Option on all DELL Inspiron Laptops || Fast and Easy BIOS Setup - YouTube

How to Enable USB Boot Option on all DELL Inspiron Laptops

and have set the below USB settings to ENABLE
How to enable BOOT from USB on a Dell Inspiron 7720-how-enable-usb-boot-option-dell-1.jpg

    USB emulation was already ENABLE
but I changed USB Wake Support also to ENABLE like the video

then the video says to save changes and go back out and in to the below screen

How to enable BOOT from USB on a Dell Inspiron 7720-how-enable-usb-boot-option-dell-2.jpg

but I can not see USB available like his video achieves.

I did try to go into Add Boot Option and I see the below image
How to enable BOOT from USB on a Dell Inspiron 7720-3-dell-f12-menue-add-boot-option.jpg
The only thing to note is, when i first went in here, even before doing things like setting USB Wake Support to ENABLE, there was 3 options and USB was one of them, however I dont think i selected things correctly. Somewhere its not there now, but I have not removed the Boot USB since this, just alot of restarts

    Update

by taking out the USB stick and shut down then restart I go back to this additional option below

How to enable BOOT from USB on a Dell Inspiron 7720-4-img_7015.jpg

you can see the top option in the File System List is a USB.

But HOW to fully fill this screen out? I fear my creation is not complete.

I added USB in the Boot Option Name section, left the USB line highlighted in File System List, but when you tab down to File Name, there is no lookup ability to select the File System List highlighted file?? so I hit yes on the screen you see above bar the Boot Option Name has USB

then see above, I managed to use the + key to move the USB Boot just created to the top, I hit F10 save and when i hit F12 on a reboot the USB option is now there under UEFI boot, but you hit enter on it and nothing, back to the std windows login screen ????

Is there a bootmgr.efi on your USB?

    Disable Secure Boot during installation
"Load Legacy Option Rom" ==> change to [Enabled]
Can you try your USB on a different PC?

Edit: If your "old" Installation has a working "Recovery Environment" you can run the Command Prompt, navigate to the USB and run the "setup.exe" from there.

Ive got further along by this comment

"The answer above is correct. On UEFI systems, the boot order list for local storage devices only includes paths that have been formally registered into the firmware, which is typically done during OS installation. Temporarily attached devices like flash drives are accessed through the F12 one-time boot menu. Technically you could register the \EFI\Boot\Bootx64.efi bootloader file on that flash drive as a permanent boot device, but you may not want to."

    On BIOS:
    Select OS mode = UEFI
Disable fast boot and secure boot (you can turn it on after installation)

Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.

As you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT

During POST, press F12 to launch the boot menu. You will see two options for the USB drive. USB UEFI (Name) and USB (Name). Select USB UEFI (Name) to install as UEFI-GPT.
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.
If you don't want to use MS account, don't enable updates or connect to the internet during installation.

For the records How I Solved the issue with the Dell Inspiron 7720 laptop not booting from the USB

see the above screen Add Boot Option

    Boot Option Name
    USB (call it anything really)

    File System List
the highlighted option was sitting there able to be selected, it seemed obvious as it was the only choice with "usb"

File Name: (ignore the words in the above screenshot, I just used that image to show where it goes)
    \EFI\Boot\Bootx64.efi

which references a file on the Bootable USB drive , I created this file as per the link further up to the Windows 10 forum process. That last change on the file name, found elsewhere is what made it work.

With your USB Flash Drive Windows Installer in the computer,
Restart the computer and press F12. One of the options should be the Flash drive by manufacturer. Using your arrow and enter keys select the flash drive for a one time boot option, this should boot the computer to the flash drive.
If not, the Flash drive was not burned correctly. Try burning your Windows 10 ISO image with the Media Creation tool
    Or you can try Rufus
