Please post screenshots of every step of merging the reg file as per

Add or Remove Copilot Button on Taskbar in Windows 10
    Option 2, step 3.

Do you have UAC turned off, perhaps?
Are you running as admin or as a standard user?

Please also post a screenshot of the relevant registry key and value before and after attempting to merge the reg file.

Of course, you could also edit the registry directly if for some reason merging doesn't set the value correctly.
I found a few places that offered reg files to download and merge. I also edited directly. There is no relevant registry key until you attempt to disable through the registry.

Nothing that has anything to do with copilot.

For some reason I cannot drag a screenshot in here.
Here is this, however in regedit. Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot

and also: Name TurnOffWindowsCopilot Type REG_DWORD Data 0x000000 (1)

    Quickie screenshot directions.

    1. Use the PrtSc key to take a screenshot.
    2. Open an image editor like "Paint", and click Paste > Paste, or Edit > Paste.
    3. Click on Select > Rectangular Select and drag a box around what you want to show.
    4. Click on Crop.
    5. Click on File > Save as > PNG picture and save it to somewhere like your desktop.
    6. Now, in your Ten Forums post, click the mouse where you want the pic, and then click on the Insert Image icon.

    7. Then click on.. From Computer > Browse (to where you saved the screenshot) > Upload File(s).

    8. You will then see something like this. That's your "posted" image.

I got the PNG no problem just didn't see where to add it to the post. Will do in a while.

Try a RIGHT click on the Taskbar >Search >Show Search Highlights and uncheck it.
    That should remove the icon.
If it doesn;t work, simply recheck it.

THANKS! That got rid of the icon. I looked all over and never saw that suggested, so again THANKS. If I had my way I would uninstall the program but I will settle for hiding it.

    Don,

You told me that that procedure did "nothing" even when I queried your response.
I had suggested it in post #2 of this thread about ten minutes after you asked your question.

There's also Vivetool. I'm not sure if the same Vivetool ID numbers will work on Windows 10 or not...

Maybe someone has tried it and can comment.
