Do I need to have Windows Recovery Environment enabled?

What happens if it is disabled? I have a perfectly working Acronis backup image of the entire drive, so do I need WRE at all? I love it that I can simply go back to all my updates, apps, and preferences reinstalled with my image. I am using Windows 10.

According to this site, you can easily disable and enable it:
Enable or Disable Windows Recovery Environment in Windows 10

So if you disabled it, and really need to use it again, you can easily re-enable it.

    Personal choice.
    I don't use/or have a Recovery partition.

But... I use Macrium Reflect and it's bootable rescue media has, among other things... a command prompt.

The Windows recovery partition is not required.

It can be deleted and relocated.

There are times in which there are problems with backup images:

    a) those saved to another drive: drive or drive connection problems

    b) those saved to the cloud: network and/or internet problems

These are not in any way equivalent.

    There is no comparison.

Play with the options in WRE (using Shift + Restart) and you will see there are some useful options there. Have you ever tested recovery from your Acronis backup to know it is reliable?

If you ever need WRE, you can simply boot it from Windows ISO or other backup software.

Yes, Acronis also allows me to boot outside of Windows.

I keep two to three recovery points just in case one fails. None of them have ever failed.
