I have no idea what's causing that, but.... there's a Windows file called Taskhostw.exe that keeps popping up in my firewall, trying to access the internet. Probably 4-5 times a day.
I have it blocked in Bitdefender's firewall, and that seems to keep it from calling home, for whatever reason. ??
C:\Windows|System32\taskhostw.exe
I just read this. From Malwarebytes. Check it out.
Just a moment...

I don't think yours or mine is malware. I just mentioned taskhostw.exe because it never seems to take a break.
But here's how to end tasks when you want to restart the computer...
Turn On AutoEndTasks at Restart, Shut down, or Sign out of Windows 10
You might track down the app that's possibly causing it:
See section:
Closing 1 app and shutting down screen shows task host window or no icon
Closing 1 App and Shutting Down in Windows 11/10 (Fix)
Here is another idea:

Thanks, I ran the windows update troubleshooter, and it fixed a few things, so we'll see if that helps.

Appreciate the heads up. The thing is, I actually appreciate that behavior when it is called for, preventing me carelessly losing some work. I just want it to work when it' supposed to work.
