The Tutorials section gives many many illustrated guides on basic usage and more.
Example:
Pin shortcut:
Create a shortcut e.g. on your desktop.
Drag that to the taskbar.
Release mouse button.
Unpin:
Rt click item on taskbar
Click 'Unpin from taskbar'

Below the main text are links to further related tutorials.
I did shortcuts on desktop, but its the blue Edge symbol, not a "favicon". and it wont drag/drop into taskbar
something like google, or a news site....is it simply called a 'website' or is it also called an 'app', or other terms?
in the yellow links, I dont see "pin to taskbar" for a website, only for apps and files
Thank you for your reply.
1. To create/pin & Unpin an Edge icon see:
or
How to Create a Shortcut to Open Microsoft Edge Chromium
2. To create a URL shortcut, simply
left drag the lock icon to the left of the address bar in the browser to e.g. the desktop
Or you can create one starting with rt click an empty area of e.g. the desktop, create New, shortcut and use a URL as the location.
URL shortcuts dragged to the taskbar are usually pinned automatically to a jumplist.
1: create desktop shortcut to website
2: right click in taskbar and select "toolbars" then "links"
3: drag the desktop shortcut to the "links" in taskbar (as you hover over links it'll say move to favorites)
4: after that you can delete desktop shortcut (to reduce clutter) , the link in taskbar will still work

wow. dont want shortcut to 'open up msft edge' (...I dont think). post 12 I dont see "pin website to taskbar"...and first 2 yellow links are same (...?)
maybe I never explained things clearly. I used to have "favicon" shortcuts to "regular", often used "regular" websites in the taskbar. always there, visible, easy to use, one click. fouled things up. I know it was easy to do before, or I couldnt have done it. am I the oonly one using "favicon" website shortcuts in the taskbar?? how can that be??
left dragging the lock icon to get a dsktp shtct doesnt always work. dragging those (as round blue "edge" symbols) into taskbar never works. 3 dots/more tools/pin to taskbar never works. right now, I have desktop website shortcuts, in the round blue "edge" symbol. dragging into taskbar doesnt work.
feel awful turning what is probably a simple thing (for you) into such a mess, as I have such a hard time understanding things.
Just tried doing this in Edge and I think I got what you're looking for.
1) go to the web site you want to pin to the taskbar (10 Forums, CNN etc)
2) click the 3 dots at top right and choose More Tools → Pin to Taskbar
3) if Pin to Taskbar is greyed out press F5 to refresh the site then do it
4) Favicon should now be on the taskbar
I don't use Edge much myself. Use Firefox and the Bookmarks Toolbar and Other Bookmarks folders. Also, I don't pin web sites to the taskbar, just apps. I was just answering what I thought was the op's question.
yea i also tried to answer ,then saw your way and thought it might be better ...so tried it ...doesn't seem better lol
no disrespect intended , guess we all here to try help (with trial and error sometimes)
