    Ooh, Storage Space. Good when it works then...

    You could include the specs in a post...

    Hi All,

    The Media Center survived another night :) I am trying to update specs for you but when I try running SystemInfo.exe I get the following:

    ```
    See the end of this message for details on invoking
    Specs don't seem visible.. Speccy (freeware) is another option.
    The systeminfo.exe failure is odd... begs questions..
    I did see that but it appears that I have to go line by line rather than a simple copy-once paste once into this site. That's a lot of effort for two machines. IS there not a way to paste once with all the information from a machine?
    If it's a PC you're dealing with once, for this thread, and don't wish to keep in your specs, then you could post the specs, as I said, into a post, ensuring they are clearly laid out and readily accessible.
    Pasting a few lines- or even typing them- doesn't take that long.
    I've taken a while posting this, as you did yours.. could have made progress entering the specs instead..
    To be certain I made a pass with the information I could, unless I am missing something. I understand it's not too much effort but it is involved. It does take time to type sentences here but it's not as intensive. It again seems like the process would be made easier for new members so that they do not have to go through so much effort to get the valuable information required to allow everyone here to provide effective support.
    There's a tutorial to guide people how to do that.
    I guess you'd like someone to create a script they could download to their PC to capture that data and upload it to the site.
    Can you think of any other tech sites providing free help that does that?
    And how many people would be happy running a script that captures data from their PC and uploads it? Think... security risk! Hackers!
    You are already having someone execute a branded EXE on their machine to get the system information. It's the logical next step to get it posted into your website with a press of a button. :)
    And please do not get me wrong, I very much appreciate all the free and excellent support here. I am showing these posts to friends to make sure they are aware of this forum and its great value.
    But that would raise potential legal issues if someone accused this site of taking data or doing damage by accessing someone's machine in some manner. Plus not all data is acquired in the same manner.
    (It's not my website at all- I'm just a member)
    *** I suggest you put forward your idea as a comment at the end of the tutorial on collecting PC specs.
    Brink will see it and respond...might prompt an idea..
