copy and paste is messed up

Got a weird copy/paste thing going on. It always works the first time but then follow on copy/pastes don't work correctly, as what gets pasted is just a repeat of my initial copy. Maybe I tweaked something at some point, not sure, but am hoping someone recognizes the issue and can clue me in. thanks
below is what happens if I try to copy (or cut) three different numbers. Hope the formatting holds up

    copy paste
    source target
    111 111
    222 111
    333 111

    You're using Control+C & Control+V?
In what application is this happening? Everywhere you try to copy/paste something?

Press the Windows key +V and a small window shows with the clipboard history. Here you can clear it for the next Copy.

    John,

I agree with spunk, the first step to take would be disabling Clipboard history to see if some fault with that was the cause of your symptoms.
Enable or Disable Clipboard History - TenForumsTutorials

Personally, whatever the results of that step, I'd also try
    - Booting into Safe mode to see if the fault is evident there.
Boot into Safe Mode - TenForumsTutorials
    - Seeing if SFC [Option 3] can resolve the problem

    Best of luck,

    a little progress here...

firefox may be central to the issue, its reproducable there so lets focus on that. Here are the steps I took

    1) typed 111 into 1st google window
    2) marked that 111 and did right click, copy
    3) pasted into the second window, 111 appeared.
    4) checked windowskey+V for clipboard history, there is only one entry, 111. Good so far
    5) typed 222 into the first google window
    6) marked that 222 and did right click, copy
    7) checked clipboard history, it shows both 222 and 111, looks good
    8) pasted into the second window, 111 appeared. wtf.
    9) checked clipboard history, it shows 111 then 222 then 111. Why is 111 in there twice?
    10) made a screenshot, its below

Same results whether I use rightclick copy and paste or keyboard ctl-v and ctl-p. Same results even if I disable clipboard history. Thanks. running sfc /scannow nextcopy and paste is messed up-1.jpg

sfc /scannow says it found a errors but was unable to fix some of them. Looked at the cbs.log file but not sure what to look for so I searched for every occurrence of the word "failed", most were something like this...

    InternalOpenPackage failed for Package_for_KB3025096~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.4.1.0

chrome seems okay so I'm thinking something must be going on with firefox

Start with basics as usual .. check your disk e.g. Crystal Diskinfo, run chkdsk from an admin prompt.

The you can try running the appropriate DISM command, and if no success, proceed to an in-place upgrade repair install.

Plenty of examples on tenforums- tutorial can help.

Are you saying that the problem only happens in Firefox?
Other applications are alright? Notepad, for example, is alright?

Notepad to notepad works fine. I've had problems with chrome but I think it was only when interacting with firefox as source or target, so I'm inclined to assume for now its only a firefox problem.

I think it's probably some extension in Firefox that is doing this bug. If you can't find what's doing that, then repairing Firefox is probably what I would do. But see what other people reply with, first.

    Also, actually, first, try this:
