@zbook: I talked with NVIDIA. Their words were, "With the computer being so old, there is no longer support for it as it is obsolete". But I am wondering if I could gut it and redo it by putting new parts in it, would that work? What I am saying is, could I do a custom build with it?

For an obsolete computer there is bound to be a component that is a bootleneck.

In general it's best to purchase a newer used computer or save for a brand new one.

There are Ten Forum members in the hardware thread that can better advise you about the possible bottlenecks.

Earlier in the thread I'd suggested that you run the Crucial scanner to view possible drive and RAM options.
Crucial System Scanner | Memory Upgrade Scanner | Crucial
Post a URL or link with the results.

    Also run:
GetMemoryConfiguration.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

I doubt that it's worth it.

You'd want to replace the motherboard. It's an old nVidia 6150SE/nForce 430, for an old AMD CPU.

    And a new CPU.

The RAM is DDR2, so that'd go too.

The power supply is 250W. Could be worse.

In automotive terms, it's beginning to resemble throwing away everything but the hubcaps.

"zbook" mentions a memory upgrade. Crucial doesn't list any, just SATA SSDs. Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | hp - compaq | pavilion p6000 series | Pavilion p6203w | Crucial.com DDR2 is just too old.

The motherboard looks like an industry standard mATX one, though. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01859861 It has a 24 pin ATX power connector. It might be possible to swap in a new mATX board, but it wouldn't be very worthwhile (IMHO).

It may be possible to get such an old machine running under 10. I did it with an old (2008) Compaq CQ50-105NR laptop, with a similar chipset and CPU. That was maybe in 2015. If memory serves, I had to do some manual driver installation, as the newest drivers for the chipset are for Vista. It was fun, but not worth the trouble.

Did you have a chance to test the Nvidia driver I suggested in Post #109 ?

Your computer is not too old. I have a couple old computers from 2009 and 2011. They both started with Windows 7 32-bit and 4 GB RAM. I upgraded them to Windows 10 64-bit and 8 GB RAM. They both work fine with Windows 10. What helps is I have the time and technical knowledge to support them. That is not true for the average person.

Since the computer is not yours then it is up to you how much time you want to spend on it. If the owner has the means to buy a new computer then that might be the best option.

@MisterEd: I did. It still had some issues with the driver (meaning it had some issues with the display adapter).

@zbook: I put Windows 7 back on it. The install of Win 7 keeps asking me to run the CHKDSK Utility on it. So I am letting that run now. If all goes well with installing every update from Win 7 on it, I will put Windows 10 back on it to see how it does. If it still acts up, I just revert it back to Win 7. I will run the tool you said to run as soon as it is up and running.

Gonna go with Windows 7 for a little while. Running chkdsk now. If all goes well, I will put Win 10 back on it.

I need help finding a driver for it for the network adapter. Does anyone know where I can find it? (Windows 7)

For the network adapter start with Windows troubleshooting and windows updates to see if it finds a default driver.
Then use the Intel Driver and support assistant to see if it is or is not related.
Run the DM log collector and post a share link into this thread.
Open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > manually expand all rows > look for any row displaying a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark or unknown device > post images or share links into this thread

    Administrative command prompt:

    msdt.exe -id NetworkDiagnosticsNetworkAdapter
    msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
    msdt.exe -id NetworkDiagnosticsInbound
    msdt.exe -id WindowsUpdateDiagnostic

Click "view detailed information" > post images or share links into this thread

@zbook: Okay. The driver under Network Adapters is called "NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller". But it is saying i am not connected to the internet. I tried downloading the Intel Driver & Support Assistant and it won't download without some .NET Framework feature.

Does the computer have both Ethernet and Wifi connections available?

Which method works and which method fails?

Please post the images from device manager displaying yellow triangles with black exclamation marks or unknown devices.
When network adapters is expanded look for the Nvidia nForce Networking Controller > right click properties > click details tab > in the Property section scroll to HD Id (typically near the top) > post images or share links

Please post DM log collector results.

It doesn't have a wifi adapter - only a lan or ethernet apdater.

There are no yellow triangles with black exclamation marks or unknown devices that I am aware of. But below is a screenshot.

Why would you not expand the relevant sections before posting... like display adapters and system devices in addition ???

80072FE means you have no network. If your chipset is not correctly installed the NForce controller will fail to work properly.

Or Make sure that your Ethernet wire connection is good and working.

Use a Driver Discovery Software... Once the chipset installed, The network card detected should be a Realtek RTL8201N controller...

The NForce chipset is a little world of it's own. and I doubt that Win10 would be happy on that hardware.

Which is imo the goofiest thing ever done by AMD. And should be destroyed on sight
