File Explorer - redraws when expanding directory listing

I am getting an intermittent issue when using File Explorer.

When I want to open a subdirectory drive I will click on the ">" symbol beside the drive in the left hand pane to expand the directories, and then repeat that process several times till I reach the sub-directory I'm looking for which may be 1, 2, 5 levels down etc.

When this happens, it does so usually just as I get to the folder I want, Fiile Explorer Refreshes the window, and positions the start point at the top of the list of folders (I think on Quick Access) losing me my place in the list that I was in the process of opening. All the expanded directories do remain open however, and I can simply scroll back down to where I was before.

Very irritating, and it does happen regularly, but as it is intermittent, I simply cannot discover if there is a specific action which causes the problem.

I'm using Windows 10 Home 64 bit 19044 1466, but it has happened for a while, I just could never be bothered to try and explain the issue.

If anyone recognises the issue I'd be grateful for some help.

    Thanks.

    Colin

    Hello @ColMac,

I have noticed that you have NOT had ANY replies, so I thought that I would try and help.

Does it ONLY happen on certain Directories or on ALL Directories intermittently?

I am just thinking outside the box here to try and find a viable reason. If this happens on the SAME Directories, could it possibly be that the Folder is actually a Shortcut to the hierarchy Folder?

I did not spot your post when it first appeared. I too am suffering from this minor annoyance (for many months now) but have never found an explanation, let alone a cure. I have been unable to narrow the issue down to a sub-set of folders, but it's nothing to do with shortcuts AFAIK. Martin

Unfortunately I have not noticed any pattern whatsoever, so I cant add anything to help narrow it down.

I'm so happy to hear I'm not on my own here.
