I did a stupid to my PC

Windows said my computer was not 11 ready, my UEFI was not running. I set it up in my BIOS and the computer failed to boot.
The option to reset to Legacy was grayed out. I used the BIOS board jumper and reset the BIOS.
I rebooted and selected the Legacy and booted the computer.
Now I get: Error: unknown File System
    Entering Rescue Mode.......grub rescue.
Been running for a long time. Nothing happens.
    Did I kill my PC?

Perhaps a clean install of the OS will fix the problem, either in legacy or uefi mode.

When you reset the bios to defaults that will kill it as it need to be the same as before mst likely setting wrong will be setting for the disk IDE, AHCI, or RAID. it should problerly be ahci and speed 6 gigs if its a ssd font mess with the disk it will be bios settings

Grub is not part of Windows. Was this a dual boot PC running both Windows and Linux?

Bree there are two hard drives. I will pull one out and see if Windows will run on the other drive.
    Thanks for the info.

    That worked!
Now I have to figure out why the PC is trying to default to the other hard drive for boot-up?
If I deselect it in the BIOS for boot up, will my automatic Backups still go to the other drive?

It sounds like you have Linux installed on the secondary HDD. If you installed Linux on to another drive, it will create the GRUB boot loader and give you the choice to boot into Windows or Linux. Unless you have the most recent version of Ubuntu, it will not support UEFI Bios and Secure Boot which Windows 11 needs.

Yes, if you move the secondary drive lower in the boot order or take it out all together, then your backups will still be present. You may have to configure your Backups Again from the changes.

The 2ND drive did at one time have Linux Ubuntu on and was erased. There must be a remnant left. I disabled this drive on boot up and there is no longer a problem.
    Thank you for the reply.

Glad you got it sorted, now reconfigure your automatic backups again.
