Hello @Mikey7a,
Welcome to TenForums.
Have a look at this => How to Restore Default Apps for File Type Associations in Windows 10
I hope this helps.
No, I reset everything, nothing changed. Still broken. I tried the Windows recommended option, and tried Paint. Still the same.
You wish to see the thumbnails for pictures on the desktop.
Can you see thumbnails for for pictures in a folder, if you have the view set to be by icons (small, medium, or large)?
I don't know of any setting that would cause you to not see thumbnails on the desktop.
Okay. No rebooting did not help.
Also, no, they are the same in the Folder.
Before, I could see whatever it was that I took a screenshot for, or the Image I copied. Now, just what you see here. Sadly, I didn't notice when this occurred, so I have no way of knowing what I did that caused the issue. Interestingly though, if I change the Default to Photo 3D, it shows that logo. Same as a photo editor I installed. I want to see what each of them are, without having to Open each one. That could be tedious at best.
I hope I'm giving you enough input to understand my issue. I worry sometimes that the solution may be simple, but I'm too dumb to convey the problem well enough.
Thank you both for answering!
I've never had to fix that.
Maybe this would be worth a try: Windows 10 thumbnails all messed up? Here's how to fix it! | Windows Central
It gives 2 methods to delete the Windows thumbnail cache, which Windows will them re-generate. Only try the second method (command line) if the first (Disk Cleanup) doesn't do it.
I use Disk Cleanup to get rid of files that are no longer needed after a Windows update, and I always allow it to delete thumbnails. The thumbnails have always come back after.
Best of luck.
