    Remove News & Weather icon from Taskbar


    Windows 10 on PC (OS build 19041.1052

    A recent W10 auto-update added a news & weather icon to my Task Bar. It pops-up at inopportune times and obscures whatever I'm working on. The box doesn't have an X to close the popup. So, I've learned to click in the box, and then on the workspace in order to minimize the distraction.

    My question is this : how can I remove the new icon from my Task Bar?

    To leave icon, but stop it from opening... Right click on icon > News & Interest > Uncheck 'Open On Hover'.


    To completely remove the icon... Right click on icon > N&I > Check 'Turn Off' .

    WiseWiz & WXC, Thanks. That did the trick. I didn't know what the name of this new feature was. So I missed that option while clicking everywhere.

The interest here is use as little space as necessary when you want multiple icons on the task bar. Can the text be edited to either remove/hide it? i.e. can IHeartRadio be shortened to iHR or just not show any text? Right now using FF the text...
