Shutdown or Sleep becomes Log out

Often shut down or sleep will result in log out- it is not a big problem but I wonder what is behind this odd behavior?

    Shutdown always involves logging out.

Sleep should either always force another logon afterwards [if that's the way you've set up the computer] or never.
If it is sometimes then something else is going on. Perhaps it's crashing instead of or during sleep.

Thank you for your reply but it is not shutting down from the shutdown indeed I just had to do an update restart and it just logged out. Maybe I should be using the Sleep never before logged out. I don't want to use sleep anyway- my son wanted to use the button (under supervision).

I do not understand what you are trying to say.

Shutdowns and restarts always involve logging out.
    Sleep may or may not.

Clicking the shutdown or sleep icon on start instead of shutdown the computer or putting it into sleep mode becomes only a log out- that is all it does sometimes.

Please would you split what you are saying up into separate statements so that shutdown and sleep are not mixed up together.

1 When I click on shutdown in the Start menu, this happens ……
2 When I click on shutdown {somewhere else that you are using that I have not yet understood, I don't understand what you mean by "instead of" yet}, this happens ……

3 When I click on sleep in the Start menu, this happens ……

It's late here and I cannot post again until late tomorrow because I'm busy. Perhaps someone else will understand your next post and step in to help you more quickly than I will be able to.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

I am sorry if it was confusing.

When I click on shutdown in the Start menu, this happens sometimes it just only logs out- no shutdown.
When I click on shutdown and update in the Start, it sometimes just logs out.

When I click on sleep in the Start menu, it just logs out- no sleep.

1 If you create a new user for test purposes, do the same things happen for the new user?

Just create a local user account to keep things simple.

2 If you go to Safe mode do the same things happen there?

By way the not reliable behavior, so adding a new user or safe mode may not tell me anything.

These 2 tests may not tell you anything, however; they will clearly inform you if certain drivers or a third party app is responsible for your grief or a corrupt profile is the cause.

The only logical approach to troubleshooting is to reduce the variables by removing the most likely causes one step at a time.

Denis has played this game many many times.

Unless you know better, I would follow this direction.
