    is it safe to delete pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys????????

    Do you knowingly use hibernation? You've got a laptop, so maybe you do?

    I don't use hibernation, so I turned it off. Saves a few GB of hard drive space.

    Discussing the page file is like discussing religion.....few minds are ever changed. I'd guess most here just leave it alone and let Windows manage it.

    Disabling hibernation -
    powercfg.exe /hibernate off
    also disables fast startup.

    Whilst fast startup can help with HDDs, if you have a SSD it's no loss - and fast startup can be problematic for some users.

    Hybrid sleep also requires that hiberfil.sys be present.

    Don't mess around with pagefile.sys unless you know a considerable amount about memory management in Windows.

    You should see something like this:
    is it safe to delete pagefile.sys & hiberfil.sys-1.png

    Should be ok from an admin Powershell prompt too.

    - suggests you weren't even using a command prompt.

    Note you could have resolved that for yourself by using Google or reading the relevant tutorial.

    If you use the HP notebook as a desktop replacement and there is no installed battery then it always behaves like a desktop.
    Turning hibernation off should not be a problem.

    In contrast if you use the notebook frequently on battery or live in an area with occasional power outages having hibernation can reduce the likelihood of data loss.
