Generic icon

Greetings,

I have notepad files on the desktop, but the icons for these are generic (the last file in the picture).

Someone else had this problem. They were told to delete a file:

%localAppData%\IconCache.db

I have deleted the file and rebooted but the icons are still blank. Is there anything else I can do?

That is not the generic icon, it is the correct icon for a text document. If you look carefully it has a lot of grey horizontal lines representing the text.

The generic icon looks very similar, but is blank.
