    Converting to Windows 10 Home, Help

    Good Afternoon,

    I have a product key to activate my windows for the computer I'm on but I'm on Professional instead of Home so it has the watermark stating that I need to activate windows.

    I was wondering where online I could find the installation setup for windows 10 HOME.

    I tried this from the Microsoft website, but upon finishing the setup it only gave me the option to install PRO;

    Thank you.

    Hello @ayaitsjacob , welcome to Ten Forums...

    The product key determines whether Windows is Home or Pro.
    I don't think you can use a Windows 10 Pro key to activate Windows 10 Home.

    Let me show you an image to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about,

    Just use the Media Creation tool to make your installation media.
    During the install use the product key you have, when asked for it.
    Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10
    Clean Install Windows 10

    Unhook all drives "except" the one you are installing Windows 10 on.
    Unhook the internet before you clean install Windows.
    Do not hook it back up until the install is completely finished and you are on the desktop.

    The combination of unhooking the internet, AND typing in the product key "during" installation will result in Windows 10 Home... activated... after you rehook the internet.

    TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)

    You can check by pointing dism++ at sources\install.wim and it will tell you the images.

    I would format the windows partition and apply the home image to that partition.
    You can do it from the booted installation media. Boot it up, open cmd, type diskpart and format the windows partition.

    Then use dism to apply the home image from the install.wim/esd that is in the installation media sources folder.
    To make it easier, you can pop dism++ on the usb stick and use that to apply.

    @ayaitsjacob

    Are you entering your Windows 10 Home key at the very beginning of the install ?

    As stated by Ghot.

    It talks about your organizations activation server, is this a work PC, or is it your personal PC ?

    If you want a clean install of Windows 10 Home, download and run the Media Creation tool, use it to create a bootable USB stick or DVD, then boot from it.

    Some people think the kind of conversion you want is possible, but try it at your own risk.
