    WinPESE - The Oven.org Beware?


    Hello everyone, I use the resources that are available out in the community for making WinPE live boot media. Some of my resources were aging and I was looking for updates to wimbuilder and winbuilder. I found theoven.org WinPESE project which looked quite good...however, there were signs that things were a bit off with site, IE No secure cert etc. I googled about the site, and most people said it was safe (That was before I found this forum). Against my better judgement I signed up for an account on there forum, as I had a few questions. Upon entering the forums things seemed off, as it seemed like most of the new posts were written in broken english. As well, most download sites were Chinese...

    This set off alarm bells, however, I tried to keep an open mind, thinking maybe just some of the developers were from china for some of the projects. Once again against my better judgement, I downloaded WimBuilder2. Immediately, Windows Defender and Malware bytes locked the file, and quarantined it. This immediately made me worry.

    I started browsing reddit, and found this site...and many people think the oven.org has been hacked. Can anyone confirm that it has...I am thinking there is a good possibility it has been. Please confirm if you know. One more question as well. If theoven.org has been hacked, where is a safe resource to download WinPESE and other resources. Thanks for your confirmation in advance, and for the information.

    I've tried Win10XPE on a few computers but keep getting this from 7-Zip and WD:

    The warnings come at about the same time so can't determine which one is automatically deleting the downloaded file.

    Virus Script....


    So....is that a trogan....or is it a real part of the builder...because that seems highly suspicious to me....and or maybe I'm missing the joke...because it seems clear to me....

    I forgot to mention those messages come up during the decompressing into a folder. Since it automatically gets deleted I can go no further with it.

    WELL, I CAN AND WILL INSURE YOU WIN10XPE IS SAFE..........
    WIMBUILDER2 IS CHINESE.................
    The virus warning is from a compressed exe that we use to download the windows tools from Microsoft servers.. GWT.exe
    and that Exe has been submitted to MS and MS has stated they have updated the definition...

    And kind of tired of this -
    DONT use the Project - IF YOU do not feel safe...
    DONT use the Development website IF YOU do not feel safe..

    I use website and develop projects every day for the last 5 years...
    So stop posting with your FEELINGS and stick to the facts..

    As easy as it is do give opinions I try hard to deal only with facts partially because we haven't gotten into fuzzy logic yet and the hardware can't determine what to think.

    The Facts are we use non-common programs exe's that are NOT widely used by the general public...

    Sorry Guys, I have poured my heart and soul into these projects...
    And YES I am aware of these False Positives, But I do not have control over that...

    I know the WinPE Media the Project creates has helped millions of people and also that the media I created with it (KYHI's ISO) has been downloaded over a million times and that media is still being used as a recommendation today

I just did the latest update. At least it was for me. Low and behold Microsoft decided to install a little EXTRA DRM on me without notice. It's a file called Au.exe and was in the temp folder. The actual program name is Online Games Manager...
