Did the Newest Update Delete the LCU Folder?

After receiving the latest win 10 update 2 days ago I checked C:\Windows\servicing\LCU to see if there were any residual update files I would normally find to delete them to clear storage. But theres no LCU folder there. Did the newest update delete or move that folder?

I have actually the opposite problem, I am unable to remove it, so it is definitely still there (~800MB).

    yahanna,

I'm watching your thread in order to learn from the replies. Please would you add your Windows version [including Full build number] & the KB of the update you are referring to.

    I'm on Windows 10 Home x64 Version 1909 Build 18363.1082

Up until now, LCU behaviour has been to have up to 3 subfolders at any time. I've just left Windows to manage this on its own because a few hundred MB don't seem significant to me.

It isn't here on my PC running the the Windows Insider program. Maybe it will be removed for public releases in a later feature update.

Do you mean the optional preview cumulative update KB4580364 for 20H2/2004?
    KB4580364 CU Windows 10 v2004 and v20H2 build 19041.610 and 19042.610

If so, then my public release of 20H2 (19042.610) still has its LCU folder, and it contains this CU (and nothing else, as like you I regularly clear out the LCU folder).

Thanks for the reminder, I have just deleted the RollupFix package with File Explorer.

It would be rare to see one on Insider since each new build would reset all that and no LCU directory. New builds are not cumulatives. Only rare time you would see one is if MS issued a servicing test cumulative to Insider, as has happened recently, or some other very rare reason. Generally, LCU will never be there.

Here's mine. You can see the version I'm on to the left, and you can see the folders in my LCU folder.
Total size for the LCU folder 1.5GB on my comp.

I went from 2004 to 20H2 with the Enablement package.

    /edit

Just ran Disk Cleanup > clean up System Files, and that removed half of the 1.5GB in the LCU folder.
It removed the 19041.572 folder, entirely.

That's behaving as it should then. We looked at this some time back. The default behaviour we found is that Windows Update will keep the three most recent CU's, and that Disk Cleanup's Windows Update Clean-up will delete all but the most recent one.

LCU folder is LARGE-But what is it? - post #9

How to clean files in C:\Windows\servicing\LCU

Also worth mentioning that since that discussion I and others have routinely been deleting all packages from the LCU folder. In my case to keep my system images as small as possible. There appears to be no downside to emptying the LCU folder, none of us have reported any ill effects.

The LCU folder should reappear after the next cumulative update
