Where are Oct2020 patch offerings
I last applied patch from Sept on 5 Oct. w/ no issues. WU last checked 13Oct at 8:50 a.m. Eastern time so I understand it was before MSFT was awake and sending them out but my PC hasn't even checked since then. Any idea's about why? I use group policy to notify but do not dl - I want to decide when they are applied. Some months they are offered on time, others it takes days.
Thanks!

Sometimes you have to check again, after the last time checked....

I check every day but I NEVER click check for updates- that's a request to check download and install- I prefer to choose when and what I install.

You might look into using Windows Automatic Updates Manager, or Windows Update MiniTool.

The default interval for Windows Update's automatic checks is 22 hour, minus a random factor of up to 20% (to spread out the load of the update servers). Microsoft issue the 'Patch Tuesday' monthly cumulative update at 10:00am local time in Redmond, Washington (which I believe would be 1:00pm for you). MS are usually pretty prompt at releasing updates, and the Oct. 13th one was release dead on time. I know because I checked manually. Note that if you manually check for updates then your group policy to 'notify for download...' does not apply, the request to make a check is taken as permission to download and install.
Your automatic check on the 13 Oct. was too early to see the update. Your next check should by default have been somewhere up to 4:50am on the 14th. If your machine wasn't turned of at that time it should have checked when you next turned it on. Either way it should have found the update and notified you by now.
As that seems not to have happened I'd run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to check that everything is OK.

There's a neat trick to trigger an automatic check whenever you want. Simply pause updates for 7 days, then immediately click the 'Resume updates' button. This will force a check for updates, but it will behave as an automatic update and your group policy should notify you and wait for you to click the Download button.

well that trick didn't work- it downloaded and installed even tho I have autoupdates set to "2" -notify,don't download.
So far, no noticeable bad things but time will tell....
