Sounds a good fix!
And the Picture Viewer app in 2004 is still broken, after looking at 5 or 6 pictures it freezes up, thought that would have been fixed in 2004. But not here on my Z170 test run.
And I`m fully updated.
Oh boy, was just about to post the very same problem among two huge problems. Yes I am sure many did felt the pit in the stomach when they notice how awkward and painful to do a simple search that used to be swift and easy, as you have said ..it's almost hidden and hard to activate with a bogus arrow to click to initiate the search as opposed to the previous way where the search start the second you type the first letter.. I suppose there is no way that cold be reverted unless reversing the whole damn upgrade, and I have no frigged Idea which upgrade that implemented this monstrosity.. but I will see what will come out your complaint still. cheers man
The solution is given in the thread above. It's worked for several people.
Search in File Explorer in Windows 10
Thanks. After I started using this search app I was astounded at the speed in which results are rendered.
Somewhere in the recent past there was a thread here that covered the use of several third-party file search apps,
That's where I discovered the voidtools solution, it's now my go-to app when I have no idea where to start looking for a file.
One caveat, Everything does not search within files, only locates files and folders by name.ext.
Nothing I miss but some people may. If I find that necessary I use Agent Ransack.
Example of content search:
I created a file on my desktop which you can see, with content 'abracadabra'
The result, as soon as I clicked Documents at the top, was as near as can be, instant.
(I also use Locate32 as my fast file and folder search tool - akin to Everything, but if I recall correctly - unlike Everything, can index networked locations and external disks, and be set to search in several separate locations in a single search, and doesn't use background resources).
