Hi, to clarify, were you clean installing Win 10?

    Did your PC turn off...
    - because it already had a habit of turning off unexpectedly and this was why you were clean installing?
    - because there was a power outage?
    - because it overheated?
    - a sudden and unexpected shutdown?
    - for some other reason..

Please complete your PC specs (click My computers under my post for comparison). Tutorials available if needed.
Presently we don't know if you've a tablet or a desktop...

About how old is your PC?

Please clarify 'write protected'. After what actions/how did you determine that?

Do you have any confidence in your disk? Have you tested it recently?

    Are you over-clocking?

Anything else about the history of this would help- people so often omit the story.

Ok so no on the overclocking for one. The PC i got from someone not sure on exact age but it was originally a window 8.1 Toshiba laptop we had windows 10 on it for a while but it recently had some crashing problems so we decided to wipe it clean and reinstall but in the middle of the installation process the computer went off I was out of the room and my dog unplugged it and I didn't notice now when I turn it on it say no bootable disk unless windows disk is in and it goes to load windows with the disk but will not load I try doing the chkdsk x:/f and it says the type of the file is NTFS. Cannot lock current drive. Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected.

    Thank you for your reply.

I assume you have a bootable disk with which to clean install Windows.

    If you look at
    Clean Install Windows 10
at step 14 there is an option to format your disk.

    Does that work for you?

I would also recommend you check your disk(s) as soon as you can, especially given the history. If you can succeed in installing Windows, you can do that then.

If not, create a live boot disk (other PC needed) with lots of utilities and a familiar Win 10 environment:
    Kyhi's boot disk
    Bob Omb's boot disk
    (just Google these)

    - download the iso file and create a bootable disk using instructions as in
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10
    - but use the downloaded iso.

Boot from that, then use e.g.
HD Tune to check your disk.

    Thank you again for replying.

Of course you can't delete unallocated space.

next anyways it says it cannot find or create a partition
Where exactly with respect to the tutorial?

N.B. you do not create partitions for this.

    Windows does that when installing.

Windows is installed to unallocated space.

If you are unable to complete the clean install see my previous post.

    Thank you.

I don't know why you are creating a partition. Where in the tutorial does it say you should do that?

Go back to post #4. Test your disk.

If you had done the search I suggested, you might have seen this: (don't worry about the strange name)
    You are being redirected...

    Look at the screenshot.

You boot from the bootable disk you create using Kyhi's iso file, the PC boots exclusively from that, and look.... you get to be able to use all those programs.

Not sure what disk you bought. All editions and builds of Win 10 are freely downloadable at any time.
If you have previously activated Windows on your PC you can clean install Win 10 every day if you want- for free.
