Of course what you have to consider when using options such as the black viper lists is that these were created back in the days of XP.
These days we are all running much better processors, with much more, faster, RAM, and we are running on a completely different architecture which has been designed to control background processes in a much more organised and efficient manner.
Setting services to disabled is a bad idea, if you wish to block there use under normal operations you should set them to "manual" which will allow them to be loaded when called by some program or utility that quite reasonably expects the service to be running.
No, not as old as you thinks it is, :)
It includes 98% of the latest windows 10 services, with many options (Safe, Tweaked, Default) for both LabTops and DeskTops.
I had to make my research about services not included. and disabled more services than included in the guide like "Print Spooler" as I don't use printers.
Well my friend, I like to have my PC resources avaiable for the purpose I bought it for, but once I have extra money I will upgrade my PC for sure.
Yes, I do this for services I'm not sure about, I've been manipulating services for years and I know the consequences.
Have a good day and thanks for the warning.
Performance tab.
I have recently had a change of heart about disabling everything, it caused a lot of troubles, I mean a looot, like AMD drivers or windows updates failing to install. I used to have 50 processes (by default there are ~150), but I pumped it up to 70 now (1,5 GB RAM - 4GB used by RAMdisk). Windows updates, Microsoft Account and Store apps work just fine. I have only disabled Defender. Windows Tweaks list mine disabled services.
I've uploaded screenshots for all my services sorted by start type,
Album Link: Imgur: The magic of the Internet
some of them can't be disabled via services console,
but you can control their start type by editing their registry "start" values (Screenshot Included)
you'll find all services here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services
Those are all start types I know:
0 = Boot
1 = System
2 = Automatic
3 = Manual
4 = Disabled
5 = Delayed Start
--------- Update ---------
Please note that Some of services are important for different types of users, like:
Print Spooler: important for those who have printers or print to pdf files.
Windows Defender: clearly it's Microsoft's Anti-virus
Hyper-V: If you use Microsoft Virtual Machine
etc...
