    Lost settings

I just started the computer that I haven't used for 6 months and I used EDGE 44 on this. When I started everything was ok except I lost the settings on the task bar and it was replaced with the control panel. I cant find updates so where do I go ? Thanks

You'd have to be more explicit - screenshots help. I assume you mean you had a shortcut to settings on the taskbar, but it now opens the control panel.

    To get to Settings: try
Win key + X, click Settings.
Launch the Start Menu, and access Settings from that
Win key + S (or the search bar if it's on the taskbar) and type Settings

There are more ways to access Settings too.

If you want to access Windows Update directly, simply press Win key + S (or the search bar if it's on the taskbar) and type Windows Update

There are more ways to do that too. E.g. via the Control Panel

or the Control Panel's search field.

You are right about the settings icon.

My control panel doesn't have windows update.

I tried what you said but I can't get the windows update back

As I can't see your PC please provide screenshots relating to each of the above showing what you see.
I can't get the windows update back
This is far too vague. I don't know what you've tried, nor what happened as a result.

Recommendations can be given in the basis of evidence provided. Nothing more to go one.

Otherwise you'd just have to randomly try things.

Despite the forum prompting you to specify your build number when you wrote your first post, this is still missing.

To post a screenshot use the icon above your post with tooltip 'Insert Image'

I'm sure what Control Panel dalchina is showing, but I don't think Windows 10 ever did have "Windows Update" in the Control Panel

And certainly not now. You can also see an image of the Control Panel from 2017 as shown in Brink's Show Only Specified Control Panel Items in Windows tutorial.

Windows 8 had Windows Update in the control panel, but in Windows 10 I think it was completely removed or removed early in the updates.

Windows Update is found in Settings - Start, Settings, Update & Security

I gave numerous ways to access Windows Update. Please use those - don't get hung up on one.

If control panel doesn't work for you ignore that. (that link I showed opens Windows Update in Settings) there are plenty of options. @sygnus21 - this started as a clean install of Win 10. Build 1903 as you can see from my specs.

As I said, you have to show us what you're seeing. We are not in front of your PC.

If you particularly want to have Windows update in your Control panel then you can add it.

First off, one thing I know for certain is build 1903 never did have Windows Update in the Control Panel.

So my point is your post is extremely confusing and misleading as you post an image showing Windows Update in the control panel, when no such feature natively exists. In that your post has lead to some confusion by the OP....

The OP can't get back something that was never there in the first place (unless they hacked it in, but never mentioned that). Bottom line is your post has the OP searching for a feature in an area that doesn't. And this doesn't work...

    Doing so nets this...

Anyway if the OP wants to have Windows Update in their Control panel they could use Brink's add in tutorial - Add Windows Update to Control Panel in Windows 10 (as suggested by Try3)

I'm not here to make you look bad; just making sure the OP knows what's what.

    Peace

You are very good at critiquing my posts.

    I suggest you rewrite it.

I gave an honest answer based on my PC.

I plan to avoid this sort of contention by avoiding your posts in future.

Which you forgot had been tweaked to be non-standard.
