    Task Manager inaccurate?

    Hi
I'm currently troubleshooting a Win10 laptop with an extremely slow startup and using Task Manger to see what's using the resources.
Now according to Task Manager/Processes the disk is running at 99% but in the list there's less than 3Mb in use!
So how is it giving me useful results, is it simply inaccurate or am I misunderstanding it's function?

You can perform a clean boot state to found out if any one of the startup services or programs causing the slow boot problem.

Th disk usage in Processes is a bit misleading. It's the Mb/s per time interval, which is default 1 second. It's not cumulative. Process Monitor would be a better choice, highlighting CPU and DISK so you can see them both at the same time.

Process Monitor is at the bottom of the Performance tab.

In taskmanager open the startup tab that tells you the impact on every startup item

It wont let us know how much third-party services causing the slow boot problem.

    Thanks.
Yes, I tried the clean boot process to no avail but...
The laptop had a bunch of nasties all over it as for some reason his AV was not working.
So, I spent quite a while cleaning it up with Malwarebytes, Ccleaner & another AV.
Now, although better, it's still taking ages to start up. And yes I've run DSIM & SFC.
Looks like Windows is corrupted somewhere maybe.
Oh well, if he uses Hibernate instead of Shut Down it's not so bad.

Have you considered an In-Place Repair? Nothing would be lost. It rewrites the system files and cleans up. Takes about 20-30 minutes depending on the machine.
