need help resetting hp gaming laptop

Ive just purchased a second hand laptop, which lm having issues with.

the person did reset the system but his account is still on it, l did add my own.. but lm not an admin and his account requires a password. now l did use the F11 recovery menu and specifically said "clean system" but when it boots back in l still see mine as his account which requires a password meaning l cant do anything at present.. how do l remove the passwords and or completely factory reset? because lve ran things twice and met with logins to users.

Hi, simplest and safest option- clean install Win 10, formatting the drive(s). That way no risk of viruses or anything left over.

    Clean Install Windows 10

You can also choose which build of Win 10 you wish to install. Widely reported problems with file explorer search in build 1909- check and decide. Build 1903 is fine in that respect - available e.g. via
    Heidoc iso downloader
    from MS.

Activation will be automatic assuming it's validly licensed.

You almost certainly don't want to do a factory reset, as that would take you back to a much earlier build + add any trialware packaged with it.

If you need manufacturer supplied utilities you can browse to those and download and install as you wish.

I would go with @dalchina's excellent advice. First I would find out what Version of Win 10 you have ie home or pro. If you can't log in to your account then ask the seller. Follow the tutorial and a few points to remember. During install delete all partitions so you install to a single unallocated space on the drive. When you get to the screen showing Windows needs to restart and starts a countdown timer then remove the USB drive otherwise it will start the process again. Make sure secure boot disabled in BIOS and USB set to first boot.

l managed to get into the laptop with password reset software however l have been meeting with some errors on resetting the laptop.

my only issue with clean installing is that l dont have any stickers with the windows code on it. however just finishing off a SFC scan, hopefully that will allow me to reset things so l can actually start playing some games on this thing .

You don't need a code. As I said above, activation should be automatic.

Now you can go to HP drivers and support https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops and enter your serial number to get any missing drivers as required. If you don't want to turn the laptop over to get the serial number just open CMD and copy and paste wmic bios get serialnumber.
