    thanks for all the help, it turns out that for some reason a couple of hundred of the files (the ones with the X) were not in the original location? and were in another folder. Once found they transferred and played just fine.

    No. The files were located in a different folder. It appeared that there were a couple of locations where the file names were located.

    Did you have iFunbox installed? As stated, it would have to be associated with those media files to show that icon.
