Robocopy would do this if you can't do it from explorer. Simple syntax for robocopy is:

    c:\temp> robocopy c:\mp3folder d:\mp3folder

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for input there BillDoor, appreciate others opinions

Yep, its not something you would do normally but the gentleman is having problems copying music and vids, soo......
Im not saying everyone has illegal music on their machines, but from my experience with dodgy bit torrent music files, it helps to clean these files properties and secure permissions for a smoother transfer.

My old mp3 collection was minimum 20 years old with music scattered lots, files i cant even remember where i got them from. Copying wasnt so straight forward. 500gb and 20 years of unorganised unhealthy music files can be a right pain in the

    Peace

I understand your point, it's just I'm thinking of the number of hours I've manually spent adding metadata personalized to my specs such as genre etc. Most of my music is ripped from legal CDs but I do have torrent crap as well. I've used music Bee to batch clean comments and other garbage. As for copying, I often use Sync Toy, it is pretty reliable.
I think the OP's problem is more likely drive failure and obviously rebooting multiple times when the system hangs is a prescription for corrupting system files, no?

    Thanks bud!

Yep, i think you have nailed it! I didnt want to mention corrupt files to original poster, but that pretty much sums up the reason for lagging and freezing comp. Well, i hope it isnt his hard drive and something we can fix

You are stronger than me, i started ripping my cd's, just didnt have the stamina to rip 400 hehe

I havent downloaded any music for years.
My cheeky way is to play the tune once on Youtube and record straight to tape!! Tape you might think rubbish junk, my 1989 system can replicate cd's easily. Believe it or not, im fedup and bored of cd's and mp3's.

Modern psytrance recorded on my 30 year old Sharp system with old Maxell XLII S's sounds damn good!!! Digital for convenience, Analogue for enjoyment

I can't remember the last time I played a record (very nice Technics Direct drive gathering dust) nor a CD or even a DVD or Blu-ray for that matter. And I too am too lazy to rip. Once in awhile I will extract the audio from Youtube using 4KVideoDownloader, but my collection is pretty much static - ranging from old time Blues to Rock and Hard Rock. As far as I'm concerned the best was late 60s and 70s. Only analog today for me is car radio!

I started this now I'll finish it. I contacted Microsoft and I was told to do a fresh install of Win 10. I didn't do it. I did however do a repair install and I guess it worked. All I do now is go to file explorer right click "COPY" of the drive I want to copy and select the drive I wish the files to be copied to and click "PASTE', that's it and it works. It did however encounter a few files that it dropped down to around 2.5 mbs for a few seconds and then continued on. I got around 145 mbs which probably ain't bad considering I'm copying to a platter from an SSD. No need for 2 instances of File explorer, couldn't figure out that one anyway, to time consuming and it can get confusing if you have a large batch of folders. Oh, and BillDoor, I had the same Technics Direct Drive and got rid of it, bought it in Germany. Now I wish I had it back.
